Do you mean "What a Beautiful World It Would Be" a.k.a" IGY" by Donald Fagen ? It was released in the '80's. Here is the chorus:

"What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free".
All the words to the song can be seen at

It's performed by Sam Cooke.
Released in the 60s, the song was co-written by Cooke with Herb Alpert & Lou Adler.

I believe that the lyric you are asking about is "what a wonderful world this would be."

If so, then the song is called "Wonderful World (Don't Know Much)" by Sam Cooke [written by Sam Cooke and James Taylor]

Do the words go like this?
Don't know much about history,
don't know much biology.
Don't know much about a science book,
don't know much about the french I took
If so I then Sam Cooke wrote it I believe with James Taylor

louis armstong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.
