omg... okay, first you have to realize that even though some Japanese individuals have done harm to your family, not all Japanese people are like that. You have to learn not to stereoptype. Second, you have to not dislike the Japanese because you have a part of them. Third, you have to understand that all Asians came from the same group of people who came to China, scientifically rpoven. So all this hatred between Asian groups, when it exists, is baloney because they are the same family. Just do not hate anyone! Hatred is not good. Live life happily without thinking of such silly things on your head!!!

It's all a matter of perspective. It depends on who you talk to. There definitely is discrimination against ethnic Koreans in Japan, but it's not rampant. It's not like the average Japanese hates Koreans. It's a complicated issue for some people. For example, if your grandparents were brought to Japan during wartime, your ethnicity may be Korean, but you and your parents were brought up in Japan, speak Japanese, etc. You may actually have to carry an alien registration card even though you were born in Japan. There was a phase a while ago where many Japanese women were in love with Korea. There was some romantic TV drama and tons of J-women started learning Korean and traveling there. They saw Korean men as romantic, Japanese men as nothing special. I would say that the average Japanese is fairly neutral about South Korea. North Korea, on the other hand is a bit disconcerting to many Japanese.

You can try to first see people as individuals rather than merely a part of a group of people. The people who had tried to rape your grandma, and tortured her weren't just "Japanese." (You can also think of them as "men" and "soldiers" and "2 or three people.") They did not do these things because they were Japanese. And not all the Japanese (God forbid) tried to rape your grandma. And, these people are probably dead already, and didn't teach their children and children's children to go rape and torture people. We need to logically examine, expand, and transcend our mental categories if we wish to rid ourselves of hateful stereotypes.
ALso, naturally, having historical, anthropological, economic, political, and geographical links, China and Japan are expected to have similar cultures. Why do you have to take it against one or the other? It seems that you really need to do more research on Japanese (and Chinese) culture as well, if you think one is just a copy of the other. There are many differences in the unfolding and expression of their histories and culture(s), and there is more evidence to refute your immediate conclusion that one culture is a mere "variant" of the other as you examine deeper.
Lastly you are not necessarily "Japanese", if you have Japanese blood, or a Japanese heritage. If these didn't really have an effect on you, as a person, then why should you care? If you don't embrace your Japanese "aspect", then it's OK. No problem really. This is different from you apparently associating yourself with "being Chinese." If you do wish to explore this Japanese part of you, just keep an open mind. Be well.

Consider this:
1) Just because you have an ancestor who was Japanese doesn't make YOU Japanese. I have Scandinavian ancestors, but my family is primarily Italian-American. We Americans are all a bunch of mutts anyway. :)
2) Japanese culture has changed a LOT since World War II. They are no longer the culture that supported (emphasis on the past tense) all that bad stuff, any more than we are still the culture that owned slaves. Should Africans hate us because there is slavery in our past?
3) You shouldn't hate people just for being part of another culture anyway. That's why the Arabs want to kill us; they think all Americans are evil.
4) Who cares if the Japanese copied China's culture? The Romans copied Greek culture, and their empire is thought of by some as one of humanity's greatest achievements.
I have to say, this is an interesting question for me to answer, as I love the Japanese and their culture. (^.^)

I don't know alot about the history between Japan and China, but I do know this, it is not fair for everyone who shares a culture with evil people to be held accountable for the actions of the evil people. Obviously, there are some very wonderful Japaneese people out there, or else you wouldn't have Japaneese blood in you. Try to understand that the entire culture isn't bad just because there were bad people in it. That is true of every culture, but you cannot judge all of the people based on the actions of a few. Good luck to you, God bless.

I dont think that you really have to hate the japanese because you found out japanese blood in your viens. I've once hate the japanese people because of what they had done to my country in world war. but, when I think deeper, it's not the people that I hate, it's their doings, what they done years ago. hating human wont change the world. learn something good from them and you'll forget the hate that will trouble yourself.the japanese themselves were learning from their own mistakes and still learning. but look at japan now, they are one of the countries which hold s the world economy. my point here is, you should put away the hatred and gain some good things. remember, this doesnt goes to japanese..(^ ^);; cheers!!

You should learn from this that you must not hate anybody arbitrarily. You were wrong, so just admit it and do better in the future. Maybe you can even help others who are prejudiced, to overcome their prejudice, since you know what it's like. By the way, you don't have to "love" Japanese culture if you were not raised in it, but you should respect its good points. Maybe you are not part Italian, but you should respect Italians anyway. We are all human.

We all have our lessons in life to learn maybe this is yours. accept it. It's only a small part we all come from Adam and eve and get over your hate it was not something you chose anymore than you chose to get born. But racism only hurts people and in the long run yourself. Judge people for the good they do not that bad. A quote from Cesar " Romans countrymen lover lend me your ears I come to bury Cesar not to praise him the good in men in oft forgot but the evil is interred in their bones" Lets look more at the good try to rid the evil and we will have a better place.

See what happens when ya hate? A lesson from God? Now, stop hating. Accept who you are. You're still the same person and nothing has changed. Go about your life as you have been...minus the hate. Time to redeem.

Who said you have to accept and love the Japanese culture, you don't have to do it if you seriously don't like it, even if you were from America, doesn't mean you have to love America, **** it, you make your own place, and your own home, and find what you really love, the place you were born is just the place they received you when you came to earth xD
