Let them stay in jail. Your husband's aunt shouldn't have asked you and your husband to get involved in this situation. If the two are old enough to fight to the point where the police has to intervene then they are old enough to spend time in jail to think about the consequences of their actions. Jail might teach the two of them to solve their conflicts in a less violent manner.

I guess by now, your husband and you have had plenty of discussions over this issue, so what have you both agreed upon, whatever the answer is, you should stick to it. Your foster sister obviously has not found her brains yet, so why should you torment yourself about the stupid things she does or be responsible for her mistakes by helping her all the time. If you keep doing this, regardless of what the aunt says, you are not helping your foster sister, you are only festering the wound, she will never learn to behave or how to use the brains she was gifted with. Look after your self and your husband first. Good Luck

If you have help her and help her...then I'm sorry, but let her stay in jail for a while and think about how she got there...don't accept her collect calls..maybe then when she gets out she will not go back!! Good Luck!

Family is family honey, but if this is a routine, it's time for some tough love. Nobody is going to learn if they always have someone they can depend on to keep bailing them out. Tell your aunt that you would love to help but just aren't in the financial situation to do it this time. Go ahead and take her call, sympathize, but insist that you can't afford to bail her out. Tell her that you would be willing to call someone else for her if she needs it. The less you bail her out, the more likely it is that she's going to stop asking. Hopefully it will take you out of the middle without offending everyone.
