You'll need a job unless your parents will fund your apartment until you graduate. You don't say where you live so it's hard to say how much you'll need for living expenses.
Check through the classifieds for apartments in your area. Figure you will need to come up with first and last month's rent and maybe a deposit. If you know how many roomates you'll have, you'll know how many ways you can split that cost. Most apartment managers require separate applications from each person who will be living in a unit. They will run a credit check so don't rack up a lot of credit card debt.
Factor in money for food, utilities (phone, gas, electricity, water, Internet), new or used furniture, car maintainance, etc. Other than rent and utilities which you'll split with your roomies, all other expenses are all yours.
Make sure you look at several apartments before making a choice. Ask some of the tenants there about things like how quickly management fixes problems, policies on noise, how safe the area is, etc. Start collecting boxes now that you find in dumpsters. That way, you won't have to buy any. When you and your roomies find a place you like, make sure EVERYONE signs the lease. You don't want to be left paying all the rent if one or two of your friends decide to bail.
Sit down with your folks and make a budget. That way you'll get a feel for how much money you will really need from month to month. When the time comes, pack your stuff, rent a u-haul, and celebrate your new freedom.

I don't know what your situation is like but I usually find places on student housing websites, or local prints. Browse through the ads and call up the landlords to figure out rent, security deposit, furnishing, utilities, facilities, parking spot and stuff. Do it early though because if you are looking for a place close to your college, there are probably a lot of other students looking as well. If you are around for sure ask if you can check out the place. If you are tight on cash then maybe you can get a loan, but saving is probably best (if you have a part time job), otherwise, you shouldn't really consider moving out. Don't move too much stuff at first, because eventually things will pile up and moving out will be a nightmare. Books, clothings, computer, kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, bedroom stuff, that's it. If no furnishing is provided you can buy cheap ones and sell them when you move out (try garage sale). Get your bills sorted out like phone, internet, gas, hydro. Everything else shouldn't be too bad, once you do it many times you are used to it.

Hi, me personally I would not move out, free, easy and no hassle= no problems. If you are planning on moving out than make sure you have alot of money together and a stable job incase of any financial accidents. So lets say your apt has a 200 deposit and 400-600 in rent then you will want to save up around 2,000 so that you can have money for food and stuff. Furniture, you can get it for free off of freecycle.org (check it out). Look for a room mate to divide rent with in a 2 bedroom apt. if the rent is 600 then you will only have to pay 300. Good luck

Just grab your crap and go! Pay some schmo on the want add boards the first/last of rent and bail. Its really not a big deal. I left my parents home when I was 16 and lived in my car for 3 months until I found a place! Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

you know what, just do it. Don't wait more then your time frame because you will end up not doing it for a long time. The best feeling will be when you walk into your own apartment, put your own food in the frigde. Trust me, it will work out. Once you do it, you will not want to go backwards in life. Its the next phase of your life.

well first of all you look for an apartment in your price range like you have to remember bills rent and gas if you have a car... then you call like an apartment locater and you tell them what area your looking into and your price range... then you start saving money and you save enough usually for the deposit and first months rent... that's how i did it.. it was really easy for me...

Haha, I don't know if I should be answering this question, but what not.
My brother is moving out this August, which I'm really sad about, but anyway... I think you just have to be self prepared. I think you just have to tell yourself "It's going to happen, if not... It's still going to happen." Well, I wish you luck!!!
