Does the edited and sanitized coverage of news by American media give us a warped view of war? Would Americans react differently if we saw "graphic and horrific pictures," not only in Lebanon, but in Iraq? The U.S. government won't even show pictures of the caskets of the soldiers who died for their country.

Imagine if we had to face a daily barrage of death and destruction. Would Americans become immune or would they begin to realize the horrors of war?

If the media was as free to report now as it was during Vietnam, the war would've been over by now. The public outcry would be immense and protests would be en masse. Bush has put a tight lid on it. The Iraq war has now surpassed Vietnam in terms of American casualties. It's a behemoth of stupidity and it would have met it's end a while ago had the American people seen the reality of it

I believe it would change alot of peoples' view on the war. My husband was in Iraq, he is not the same person as when he left, i only know what he tells me and what i've seen in photos, i cannot imagine what those soliders see. I think some Americans could benefit from seeing some of these horrible things.

I think it would be differant because all we see is what is popular for them to show. I think that if people saw what was going on overseas that they would not Protest. We are doing good work in Iraq. I think that 9/11 should be shown more often because people have forgotten what the terriost have done to us. They killed 6000 of our neighbors, firefighters, police, port authority officers, mothers, fathers, children and that makes me want to go over there MYSELF and kick some @$$ !!!

Until the war affects us personally, generally we don't care. the characters running the gov't know this and orchestrate the war and its reporting in a way that people will not get up in arms and those running the country(not GW,but the ones who put him in the White House)can go about getting rich.

the government wants us to think we are not being affected at all by the war, when we really are this is why they will not show us. If they did, people who want to be soldiers would have second thoughts.

Ever hear the saying "Profanity isn't so profane if used habitually"? We would become immune- after a while it would no longer effect us.

They would be horrified at first, then desensitized to it.
