yes, we actually meet regularly for most of b-days of uncles, aunts, close family, sisters, etc.
This year, we have a mini-golf tournament and a bbq for my mother's extended family.

Yes, when I was young most of my aunts, uncles, cousins and some close family friends used to pack lunches and go to the Mystic Lake in Medford MA and spend the whole day. It was great fun for us kids and the adults enjoyed it, too. We would swim, eat and play. This place had a picnic area, too. Families don't do these things much anymore. At least that I know of.

My fiance's family does (I don't have much family left). In fact, my fiances family is having one on August 6. I am going with him and he is going to tell everyone then that we plan to get married! His mom has 8 or 9 brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, etc. My fiance has one brother and one sister, each with their own kids, and he has 3 kids of his own (all teens). I guess they go to a park about an hour away from us and are there pretty much all day.
