I see where Israel has agreed to take a 48 hour cease fire on air strikes since they destroyed that building in Lebanon and all those civilains were killed. I agree its a TERRIBLE tragidy that civilians have been killed. Its a Truly sad fact of WAR. But it appears to me that every time Israel gets Hezbollah on the ropes and is about to go for the KO. Somebody calls time out so they can catch there breath.

It's Israel being stupid by trying to be nice.

Yes, they're letting Hezbollah dig in and catch their breath. But Israel cares more about allowing the Lebanese civilians a chance to escape the battle zone (assuming Hezbollah lets them).

So, Israel is again taking the risk for the benefit of the Lebanese, just like they did by announcing where they were going to attack. But it won't be enough, and they'll just have to try again the next time Hezbollah attacks.

This is just to give the UN time to get the people out of southern Lebanon. After the 48 hours there should be no one left but Hezbollah. And it gives Hezbollah time to get out of there as well. If everyone leaves the buffer zone is setup if only Hezbollah is left the whole south just might be flat land in the next week.

The only thing south lebanon will be is a killing zone. Get out or die.

obviously Israel is playing and enter into tactical strategy and hide and seek with its adversaries by taking stock of what is has "achieved" so far ,and continue with its high handed defencive turned offencive initiatives ,as explained in others related answers .

Hezbollah is only the excuse or the front ,Israel is aiming and pushing beyond Hezbollah to create the necessary conditions for the fermentation of the "new solution" for Middle East", as can be seen the big brother is firmly behind the newly formulated and moving strategy by objecting to the trance ,so instead 48 hours ceasefire !

The world and the UN shall continue to be sidelined watchers ,and the multi-nations peace keeping troops if at all, can be implemented shall be a eye cleaner and pacifier for the global community ,before and until the envisaged platform towards "new solution"for Middle East is established ..

Meanwhile ,every body please pray that the war in Lebanon take the least lives and inflict the least sufferings and destroy the least property ,may all the Lebanese be blessed ,all my blessing for them .

everybody knows that cease fires have never ever worked in that region. I'm willing to bet money on this: Hezbollah will launch rocket attacks during these 48 hours. They just can't sit tight on their sorry asses, they've never respected any cease fire agreement or any other agreement. They need to die. Unfortunatelly they hide behind women and children which should give you a pretty good idea about how f***ed up they are.

I think it's a bad idea. The Hezbollah will regroup, restock, re-arm. It's a guilt trip over the Israeli's killing the women and children who were used by Hezbollah as human shields.

Israel has given enough--too bad about the cease fire.

Hezbollah are citizens, they don't wear military uniforms. Israel is taking a 48 hour cease fire to allow hezbollah to get more missiles from iran.

they did not promise '40 8 hours.' They suggested 40 8 hours or till their learn grew to become into finished. they additionally reported that they might attack something that they recognized as an drawing close possibility. IMO - having 2 hundred rockets shot at you does count selection as an 'drawing close possibility.'
