Israel was attacked. How did they respond? They identified the group responsible and invaded a country to eliminate them. What did the U.S. do after it was attacked? The same thing, just in a different country. How did you feel when we invaded Afghanistan? Probably like we were doing the right thing. The Israeli's are feeling the same way. Don't give me any guff about how Israel is killing babies because if you think the U.S. didn't make mistakes in the Afghanistan war you are mistaken and are once again a hypocrite. Also to those who feel Hezbollah has a right to fight because it was once their land? What would you do if the British, or American indians began bombing and killing us? You wouldn't give your land and livelyhood up would you. Think about these facts for awhile then give me your answer. If you disagree, great tell me why and I will give you the respect you deserve and answer back.

lamwholam, you make valid points. Many wars are done in the name of religion and we do need to tolerate one another, but that is impossible as long as countries like ours keep bullying the smaller ones and also as long as terrorists keep teaching hate and violence to the uneducated, easily manipulated people of the Middle East and elsewhere. Thank you for your answer, it was well said.

wow, a lot of anger there!.....I am not sure of what your objective is with this question. It seems to me you are confusing a difference of perception on how things were handled in Israel's response to one soldier being kidnpped with support of Hezbollah. My opinion is that Israel over-reacted and with US backing and support created a mess in their own backyard. This in turn can become a hell of a fight in the middle east, which has been discussed many times since we went into iraq. Of course we would all defend our country if it was attacked however, if you are suggesting that innocent war casualties are acceptable, then I would have to disagree. No baby's life is worth the anger you project, they are helpless and not yet 'poisoned' by adults. I am not a very religious person so don't assume my opinion is being driven by religion. However; it's sad that the main reason for this particualr war has always been about Religion.....
Your comment that Hezbollah does not have the right to fight for land that was once theirs is hypocritic don't you think? I mean you seem to think that because we stole the American Indian's land, as well as the Mexican territory with deception and greed, that you would be pissed if they decided to take it back? let's be realistic, as for the British, I don't know what land your refer to that was once theirs.....no land in America belonged to any European race....The indians were here way before they came, it belonged to them and they co-existed well.
Once in a while we have to put our prejudices aside and open both our eyes to get a well balanced perception of the problem. The middle eastern countries have been fighting among themsleves in the name of god for many years, and will continue to do so for the same reason you are making as an argument, and we as 'big brother' will always tolerate it when it benefits our own greed and fear. The Jews are not entirely fault free, their actions can become a bigger issue. When we as human being can start tolerating each other and stop this need to kill each other, we will be better off.......ALL sides including us, are not fault free......

You said it, group responsible. Afghanistan had Al Queda group responsible. You go after the people responsible, not trigger happy killing everything in your path. That isn't war, that is genocide. How can you possible compare "mistakes" in Afghanistan with outright "war crimes".
When there is no distinctions of human life then it can't be called a war. It is outright criminal!
Why should children who port no arms, no uniform, no knowledge of politics, religion or war, be murdered. I can't find anything that philosophically justifies these actions.
Thank you for respecting my view, and I respect yours.

i think a lot of people are not supporting hezbollah. but they are supporting the lebonese civilians. lebanon does not equal hezbollah. that's just where they set up base. the civilians are the ones dying in droves in the conflict. and very few hezbollah are dying with them. scores of innocent lebonese civilians have died while only a handful of hezbollah have been killed or captured. i think people are upset because the collateral damage is inordinate to the number of terrorists neutralized.
