Unless you drive with foot all the way to the floor all the time,Which may improve your gas mileage from very very terrible to very terrible... Exhaust systems these days are engineered to work most efficiently with a certain amount of back pressure that causes a scavenging effect at exit of the combustion chamber . When you alter that pressure the fuel/air mixture is diluted enough to create some changes in the combustion chamber efficiency . This disruption can lead to worse gas mileage because now you need more gas pedal to achieve the torque you need to get the vehicle rolling under normal conservative driving. There are some options from the aftermarket that give you computer designed complete systems that sound great and don't readily hurt your gas mileage. So in my opinion i`d say that a generic dual out would hurt your gas mileage

For dual exhaust to noticably improve gas mileage you would need to install a complete dual system with oversized pipes and free flowing mufflers and two catalytic convertors.
The biggest expense might come from buying the catalytic convertors. Factory convertors are quiet restrictive. They have to be to pass the emissions tests. Aftermarket units tend to be more free flowing but some won't pass the emissions, so beware. Some shops won't install a dual catalyst system because they may not be EPA certified.
That would dramatically reduce the back pressure and let the engine breath better. Your increase in mileage might only be 2-4 mpg so It would be a long time before you got back the money for the expense of the system. (If someone would sell you the system in the first place.)
They might sell you the parts but be reluctant to install them due to federal regulations. So you would have to install it yourself.
It would sound awesome and definitely have more power but outside of knowing your gear ratio and driving environment I can't guarantee a big improvement in mileage.
If you go ahead with the dual exhaust system, install a free flowing air filter as well. That would help round out the whole package.
The truck you mention has a fairly comprehensive fuel injection system that can handle the changes mentioned here. You should not have to get the "brain" modified. (Unless you want to but that might eat into your gas mileage)
Dropping the tailgate and/or installing a meshed fabric "gate" that allows the air to blow through it would increase fuel mileage by reducing the drag inside the box. Or install a cover.
Whatever you decide, I hope you are happy with it.
Drive safe, drive longer.

Yes, but marginally. For you to drive the truck enough miles to re-coup your cost of adding the second exhaust system, you will have to keep it a long time.
The incremental difference is negligible
