Models are meant to exhibit the peak of perfection in human beings. They are meant to show-off clothes or items to the general public, of course, to get these items to sell, therefore, models are supposed to be the most desirable, most en vogue, most seemingly flawless humans so that normal people pick up on these things and try to be like them. Humans innately are attracted to healthy other humans. Health is exhibited in, for instance, good vision (no glasses), a healthy physique, no scars, bigger breasts mean all the better to bear children, clear skin, height. Of course these things aren't really what people see consciously when they look at models, but sub-consciously this is what their brain is seeing. Therefore, models don't wear glasses because it shows a flaw in their health.

However, more so now days there is an outcry for more realistic models, but this is a bit of a phase, and while models are less stamped out than they used to be, still, those basic health features are needed.
