Shouldn't people who aren't gay just mind their business and let gay people do what they want? As a straight guy, I don't really have a strong opinion about it and don't see why so many straight people are so strongly opposed. Gay people getting married if they want to seems fair to me. Its not like they're going to make me be gay. What do ya'll think?

I'm straight and I think they have a right to get married.

In the USA there is a "separation of church and state" meaning that religious ideology should not influence public policy. But most of the people that are opposed feel that way for religious reasons.

I was married by a "Marriage Officiant" certified by the county government. I sued my husband for divorce in the county courthouse. Marriage is a legal contract between to consenting adults -- gender is irrelevant.

NO- it is NOT like saying your neighbor's a pedophile, but it's not your business. Pedophilia involves innocent children who are not physically or emotionally mature enough to understand sexuality or to give consent on a moral OR legal basis. Same sex marriage is between two consenting adults, just as heterosexual marriage is.

I am not gay, but......if there are more and more gay marriages the divorce attorneys probably will love it - it will give them more clients! I support gay couples to have the right to have a break in insurance from employers just an unmarried straight couple should get the same benefits as if they were a married couple. But I just have a real problem with a wedding and vows and the whole marriage thing - I think it should be between a man and a woman, that is what marriage was invented for. I know we shouldn't legislate love but there has to be some rules or cats will be marrying dogs, kids under ten will be allowed to be married, a three-some or more could be married to each other etc.

While I do see your point (and I am a strong proponent of gay marriage), I don't think it's necessarily fair to see if you're not gay you don't have a say. There's a lot of things going on in the world around us, and just because we aren't part of it doesn't mean we shouldn't get involved.

But I don't think straight people who oppose gay marriage have the right kind of thinking for the most part. They can have their opinion and voice it. That's fine with me. But the part that always gets me is that the majority of those people will not protest genocides going on in a different part of the world and are silent when it comes to issues like world poverty and hunger. Those things are much more valid to take action for.

After all, when gay people are allowed to get married, that will add more loving, happy people in this world. Why stop that?

But you gotta let them have their say....they just need to learn to pick their battles justly.

I don't care if anyone, straight or gay, gets married or not. I understand the motivations for gays to want those some rights, and I have no issues with it.

Some would possibly not care however I could say such a lot in general do on the grounds that such a lot proper wing politicians are Christians, and by and large attempt to impose their Christian ideals at the leisure people via disguising a Christian schedule as a political schedule. I could ought to say nevertheless that if a proper-wing did not relatively care, they could in general use the debate to fan the flames of a few votes besides.

I'm with you. I think it would solve alot of social problems and they would have the same benefits as married couples. I'm not gay, but I would support gay marriage...and the lawyers would love it too!

well from my point of view it is all about what one book says about it all..... and that book as you well know is the Bible... sorry, I dont dislike or hate gays, I know a lot of them, and like them, but I just feel that there is more to this than meets the eye or heart or mind or what ever you want to call it.... sense I am a Christian, I feel this way and there is nothing you are anyone can say or do to change my mind.... that is just the way it is... God bless

People love forcing their beliefs on others. Isn't that why our forefathers came and started a new country in the first place? Not to follow someone else, but to govern themselves. Follow their OWN beliefs.
