i have a cousin that passed away back in 1996, whose death i never really got over. i had a dream a while back that i left my body, and suddenly, he was in front of me, dressed all in white. he told me not to worry, that he was ok, he wasn't hurting. he told me i had a choice, that i could go w/him, or i could go back, but that if i went w/him, i had to stay, there was no going back. i tried to hug him, but i couldn't, it was like something was stopping me. i told him i wanted to go back, and he said 'ok, i'll c u later. i love you'. then i felt myself slam back into my body, and i felt at peace like i hadn't since his death. what does this dream mean, and why couldn't i hug him? what did he mean by 'u can stay w/me, or u can go back, but if u stay, u can't go back?'

Definitely, your soul left your body for a few seconds, and then re-enter it, of course if you stay there is because your soul is not going back to your body, that means your death, and certainly there is no return, you can not hug a spirit, that's why you couldn't hug him, I have read a lot of similar experiences, believe it of not you have had an experience that not too many people have.

The same thing happened to my uncle recently with my Dad.

The "all in white " could mean he is in heaven (see Revelation 3:4,5).

As far as leaving your body, it is very possible that you did. There are many biblical references of leaving the body. Paul talks a little about it in 2 Cor 12. Prophets were leaving their bodies too, like Isaiah and Ezekiel (first ones that come to mind).

And of course, if you decided to stay, well then you would have stayed! Being absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - (2 Cor 5:8).

Regarding the hug, In John 20:15 Jesus told Mary not to hug him yet, but clearly later the disciples handled Him. I am not sure right off the bat at the significance of that, but I thought it might help.

I could be totally wrong on all of these thought, but wanted to try and help.

Good Luck!

Your question is quite controversial, but I have had similar "dreams". When I was very young 2 of my sisters dies within 7 months of each other. And for a long time I too felt very unsettled... until one day I had a "dream" not unlike your own, I was awake and it was in the middle of the day. I BELIEVE that what you experienced was not a dream, but more like a premonition. It was your cousins way of letting you know that it was OK for you to let go. Your cousin knows that you love him...... Now to the reason you couldn't hug him.... I think you probably tried to fast. Others would say that it was because as a spirit he is an inanimate object, but I think it is because if you had made contact, there would be many more questions, and GOD (or whom ever you believe in ) is just not ready to answer those type of questions. You know if you keep an open mind and heart, that probably wont be the last "dream" you have. I hope I helped, and the best of luck to you and your family.

I believe that nothing is impossible, it is very likely that you may have indeed seen your cousin, his way of helping you move on, or it could also be your mind trying to tell you that very same thing. If you really DID leave your body and was with him in paradise, you could never return here if you decided to stay, but the "See You Later." Means you WILL see him again, in the life after this one. I'm so glad you have finally found peace, hang onto it and don't let what anyone says take it away from you, either way, your cousin is happier now. God Bless honey.

wow!

i dont' mean to sound dramatic, but it seems like you may have had a near death experience.

you not being able to hug him i think was just the fact that you had 2 choices if you let go and attach to him, it would mean you have to leave what you "are" or you wait til the time is meant to be where you can hold and be with him.

I hope that i make sense. What an incredible experience you got to encounter.

if i were you, i would take your experience as closure. His way of telling you that all is well. Stop "holding on" and in time, you will be together.

=)

Honey that is freaky I have a dream book and it said after I analyzed your dream that you truly may have had a choice and seems as though you had an out of body encounter. Your cousin came to ease your pain maybe a spiritual blessing but if you had chosen to go you may have not been eased who knows really how true these books are but I hope I helped maybe you should also invest in a dream book. Mine has been helpful and addicting every morning my fiance' and I look up our dreams. Glad you feel more at peace I'm sure he is looking upon you now!

Wow, that's a really weird dream. Well, here's what I can make of it. I think that it was your cousin's way of saying he was okay. He knew you were worried about him and he just wanted to let you know that. As to why you couldn't hug him, I'm not sure about that. As for the whole staying with him and not going back, maybe he meant you could stay with him in Heaven, but if you did, you could never go back. I'm not really sure, but this is what I make of it. That's really weird...anyways, I hope that helped. :)

That's the million dollar question, isn't it?
I think what's more important is the effect the dream had on you, although my mother had had a similar dream several times in which it was her deceased first husband she saw.
It's a classic scenario - make contact with the dead and become on of them or avoid contact and return to the living. In Greek and Norse mythology it was whether you drank or ate anything while in the Underworld.
The point is that you decided to rejoin the living and you have been living more fully ever since, and I bet that's exactly what your cousin would have wanted you to do.

Dreaming somone who is already dead could mean two things.

death = departure, love leaving you

One, you saw something in reality, and triggered you to think of him/her.
Second, you may have some issues with death or people leaving you. You projected your dead friend/cousin to give you message about life issues. It may not be your cousin. It may just a projection from your mind. Search around, and see any friend/pets/or anything that you don't want to let go, but you have no choice.

That may be the reason you dream of your cousin having conversation with you.
