What embargo are you talking about?
The only way this embargo affects anyone is that you can't buy Cuban cigars, sugar, or coffee from the island here in the states. Otherwise, most countries engage in commerce with Cuba and reap large profits. Take for instance Mexico, Canada, and Spain. These are some of the countries that have commercial ties with Cuba and are mainly responsible for keeping Castro in power. The true purpose of the embargo was to tighten the grip on Castro and run him out of power by cutting his supply lines. The supply lines were never severed and he is still there. This embargo you speak of is a joke.

It won't happen until Castro dies. No president will be willing to sacrifice 50 years of tradition (since really that's all this embargo is by now) for cigars (they can get those when they're overseas).

Why should we? At the soonest it proably wouldn't be until Castro dies. People are forgetting though that things will likely get worse after him, he is getting old and calming down. As to the "courage" to forget the "past" maybe you should look at what he has done lately. They are still a Communist regime and he is no better now then he was then.

I suspect the embargo will not be lifted in Castro's lifetime. He is able to have better control with it in place.

When the USA learns that they cannot dictate to all other countries in the world how to conduct their own internal affairs.

In other words, when pigs fly and hell freezes over.
