With just a wee bit of luck, your problem is just a fuse or relay gone bad. If you have an owners manual, look in it for fuses and locate the ones for the A/C.(That is the symbol most likey to be used for air conditioning).
If you can find the fuses either in a panel inside the car or under the hood it is usually fairly obvious if one is blown. There is a wire inside the plastic that will have a section of the wire missing. That would be the culprit. Just go to a parts store, show them the bad fuse and get a new one, press it into place and be cool again.
If you are not familiar with cars find someone who is and ask them to do the simple, inexpensive checks for you first.
Or you could take the car to a place like Auto Zone or Advance Auto or Pep Boys they might be willing to look at the fuses and relays for you. Some stores will, some don't have the extra help.
If the fuses are good and the relays are good, you may get by with the next cheapest fix which would be a recharge of the freon. Check around for a shop that will give you a firm estimate to recharge it. Some even post a sign out front. Watch out for a shop that wants to replace a bunch of parts like hoses, condensor, compressor. They may be honest, they may be inflating the price. Get their estimate in writing and go to a couple other shops to learn if they give the same items on their estimate. A/C repair can get expensive if you need major components. Sometimes it is as simple as a little rubber gasket that let the freon leak out. Other times it can be a compressor that costs $500 or more.
I wish you luck with your problem. Especially now with all the hot weather we are having.

Your car being full of coolant has no connection with your a/c not cooling. The best thing to do is to take your vehicle to a reputable mechanic that has the proper equipment and knowledge ( because there are alot of wanna be's out there that think they know and understand an a/c system.), and have him to do a diagonstic check to find your problem. once that is corrected, while he has your car, go ahead and have a full system service done. a full service being reclaim the freon, do a leak test, replace any seals or o-rings if necessary, recharge the system with new compressor oil, then the proper amount of freon. (being that you have a problem now, it probably has not had a complete system service since you have owned it.), air conditioner components has normal wear like everything else. It may be cost a couple hundred bucks to have it done, but it will be worth the money spent in the long run.

Look at your car manual. Locate the tables and see where your fuse box/boxes are at. Check to see if the air-cond fuse has been blown. Simple fix. If good make sure all connections are plugged in. It could possibly be a belt that runs the compressor motor. Check it for cracks or wear. If it looks good, apply small amount of vinegar on all exposed surfaces of the belt. This keeps the rubber supple and belts last longer.
There is also the possibility that it needs to be recharged with freon. Or the compressor is bad. Could be a relay switch, thermostat problem, if engine running extra hot, maybe a water pump.

being full of coolant does not mean the air conditioner is full of freon,,it may have went dry on freon,,this is the most common cause of one just going out like that,,other than blowing a fuse, for the compressor,,you may have to take it and have the freon re-charged before you get it to work again,,especially since you said it was working fine,,don't worry it,s not that expensive to have this done,,i own a repair shop,,and we usually charge around 60 bucks to re-charge one,,and check it for leaks,,once this is done it should work good for a few more years,,i hope this help,s.

Coolant and refrigerant are two different things. Coolant helps keep engine cool and refrigerant (freon) is the gas inside your a/c system. If compressor isn't cycling on and off, then system may be low on 'freon'. In this day and age, get system checked out by a licensed a/c system mechanic.
