I don't mean this to sound racist or anything, but any time I've ever eaten at an Indian restaurant, I feel like I'm treated rudely and not like a welcome guest. (I'm a caucasian american.) Is there something about Indian culture that is different regarding manners or do they not like to serve white americans?

I've never experienced this, and I eat at Indian restaurants often. I've found Eastern Indians to be gracious hosts, assuming you give them equal respect. When your server comes to your table for whatever reason, stop your conversation and thank them for their service.
I live in the Midwest- things may be different elsewhere.

I've never experienced anything of the sort, and I've dined at more Indian restaurants than I care to remember

I feel the same too....especially when I ask for more naan bread! I'm curious to hear people's answers as well. We frequent a place on a weekly basis, tip very well, but do not get the "love" one would think.

Maybe they just aren't as polite. Also, what you think as rude, may not be what they think too... Maybe you think they are rude, but they may not be aware of how their actions are making them to appear rude.

They don't know a thing about the hospitality business. That's why motels turn to crap after they buy them.
