Yes it is a cultural thing, our culture values children....I think the only way to prevent this, is if the culture uses education as a way out of poverty. I am Latin, Hispanic and went to college. Education was stressed in my family, so I believe that would be a solution.....Its a problem with most minority groups, not only Latina's. But where I don't agree with you that it is only a cultural issue, it is also associated with poverty.

I'm a Latina and i have a college degree, working on masters and have no kids...
so i think that these is not a cultural problem it is more of a value problem, among latinas, anglos, and afro americans.
unfortunately the problem is becoming bigger in states like Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico, New York, and Florida.
and the majority of these girls belong to a low income families, who lack education, or don't have access to anticonceptives.
but there are other girls like me, who value education more, I am someone who wants to become something more than just a mother.
being a mother is a great thing, but there is a correct time for everything.
so in my opinion it is not a cultural problem....

How many young Caucasian girls are pregnant and following the same paths you're decrying? It doesn't matter what you want for them. What matters is what they want for themselves. You're making their situations your problem and now asking others to side with you. You wish more Latinas had college degrees and diplomas and high paying jobs. Why don't you wish the same for the multitude of black girls and white girls out there who are similar situations. Besides, what do you know of Latin life other than that in your neighborhood. I've been associated with Latin Americans for more than thirty-seven years and speak Spanish fluently. I find that they are very family oriented and success driven, though in a more laid back manner than whites, which I am, by the way. I think you need to take a good look at yourself and see that you're projecting your expectations on them and not taking them as and for who they are.

You are generalizing, you are saying Latinas, not all Latina's are running around pregnant and bare foot. In my culture many of us are college educated, career minded, and business oriented with children. We are in these positions to not only better ourselves, but to better the lives of our growing children. With the careers and businesses we own we can live the dream life we want, and our children can attend the private schools of our choice.
When you say Latina's, what ethnic group are you referring to exactly? We are all not the same wrapped up into one title! All Spanish speaking people are not from the same country, and there are many of us belonging to this culture. Maybe you reside in a low -income area and you see that sort of thing.
There are poor areas where blacks have 3 or 4 children running the streets, as in other cultures I have observed. So stick to your facts, and not the steroypes chica! ...
Muchas Gracious!!!

The same reason(s) so many Anglo girls have children so young. The same reason so many Black girls have children so young.
The same reason so many Asian girls have children so young.
It's part of the human condition and it has nothing to do with race, religion or ethnicity or economic status. I agree, there should be more Latinas with college degrees, but I'll take that a step further: there should be more college graduates amongst women across the board. What are YOU doing to promote this noble goal?

Rottweilers are sturdy effectual canines, and *could be* obdurate and want a comfortable corporation proprietor. a youthful toddler is hard artwork while they want looking after all day. particularly while they are on the "perplexing" point at 2-3 years previous. i could strongly advise waiting to get a dogs, till the baby is 4 years previous, and the right age to verify the thank you to act properly around the dogs. And if the baby is at nursery college by then, it provides you greater time to then concentration on guidance the hot dogs. Having a youthful toddler AND a clean pup on an identical time is merely too plenty to shield, and is soliciting for complication.

Hard to say. I saw the same thing in LA
First, they're Catholic so they are relucant to use birth control.
Second they seem to almost view getting pregnanay as professing: I'm a woman! See I'm making a baby!
In Mexico they spend upwards to $1 million each baby in Mexico City, in American you get more welfare, foodstamps etc. IT's profitable and cheap.
Mexican girls love their men and it's an ego boost for a man to knock a girl up.
That's about all I can figure!
It's a very cultural thing and if you see 50 year old mexican woman preganant they are glowing and proud and if you see younger sisters between 6 and 11 they are in awe of the baby! They can't wait to have one themselves.

To be honest...you don't need a lot of money or degrees to be happy. The more a kid has shoved up their wha-zoo the worse brats they seem to be!
I'd rather have very little possesions and a lot of love, than work myself into the dirt for some corportate jerk who's gonna screw me out of my 401k by embezzleing my 35 year savings!
Anyone can be rich...either work harder and longer...or require less.
Plus, by the time I'm 42, I will not have ever thought about my biological clock and hopefully I will also see my great great grandchildren before they lay me in my grave.
