That would mean SELLING your yellow gold ring to BUY a white gold ring. Speak to the jeweler that you bought the gold ring at; and work out the best deal.

There really isn't a metal called "white gold." You get white gold by having a dull yellow gold that is plated with a whiter metal like rhodium. Over time (not much time, actually) the rhodium plating wears away and has to be replated. I'd keep the yellow gold or go with a sturdy metal like platinum, which will be significantly more expensive. Good luck!

If you're buying it for yourself then you shouldn't check on the price, if on the other hand you're buying it for your girl, she's going to know how lucky she is and also just how much you loved her. Just go ahead and exchange it, the choice is yours, as I said before the difference shouldn't matter
