Okay, I do agree that Meijer, by design has more grocery than the first-generation Wal*Mart. But, this is oblitereated once the Wal*mart goes through a reloaction and becomes a Wal*Mart Supercenter, then its all about the W. The prices in our area are alot better at Wal*Mart- Meijer had good introductory pricing, but jacked it after about a year- and some common items arr way cheaper not at Meijers! Our Meijer went through a remodel recently, and its not organized very well, plus the asles are still a mess and not very open compaired to other stores...
We are due for our "upgrade" of Wal*Mart to the Supercenter next summer- I hope it takes a bite out of Meijer and makes them either clean up their act and lower prices, or just suffer...
I have visited many Meijers on the road and found a few newer ones to be nice and clean, and more to be getting run down and not stocked cleanly- hopefully they are ready for remodel soon.
I have found very few "ghetto" Wal*Marts, other than the ones in the towns where the supercenter was coming online in the next month or so, but I would guess there are some out there... If it bothers you, email Wal*Mart and tell them- they do have district and regional managers that make store visits from time to time with their inspection teams and when they come through, the managers are under a microscope and nobody is happy until they are gone...I've seen that!

I agree. Meijer is a more attractive store than Walmart. They also have a better variety and quality of groceries.

I have both in this area. I like Meijer's groceries better but I like the other stuff in WalMart better (home stuff, outdoor stuff). I think WalMart is a bit cheaper too but their groceries here stink (lousy produce and meat).
