Maybe she's talking about her parents' marriage and how after her dad left her mom became emotionally dependent on her children who weren't old enough to give her the support she needed. And how she'll never handle the situation the same way.

what do you think it means? there is no right or wrong answer because we don't know what was going through her head when she wrote the song, unless you search it on google or somthing

it's a song say by a kid who has witnessed their parent's marriage dimishing and now sufferes from the consequences of the parent's divorce. there you have it.
