Mostly Jewish children were sent abroad before their families were confined to ghettos and definitely before the concentration camps were established in Germany.

Well, some children were put into orphanages as Christians, and there were occasional families who took in Jewish children and kind of like said they were Christian. However most either hid, fled, or sadly perished in the concentration camps.

Some countries were more protective of their Jewish citizens - especially the children - so the nonJewish citizens hid them.
