I used to have the same problem when I was about 14 or 15. My elbows, knees (especially the knees), and even the joints on my toes were a lot darker than the rest of my skin, which was a light olive color. Time was what healed me, though. Most of my dark spots on my joints just faded and started to blend with the rest of my skin within a year.

First of all, this is normal. You can try lightening those areas with lemon juice, but be careful. It might not work, and it can really dry out your skin. You are probably a very attractive person, and your time would be better spent appreciating all of your good qualities instead of a "bad" one that you can't really change. Life is too short to worry about things like that.

Chicky...men have the same problem with their thingy....Seriously....almost everyone has that problem in areas that are meant to be expanded.....all skin has a slight pigment...tight skin has it and as skin is more plentiful in areas it seems darker cause you see more skin....Now maybe you see my "men/thingy" meaning. There is nothing you can do about it, dont bother with the lemon juice, you will just crack and damage the skin. Don't be so picky about it,,, you are probably the only one who notices it.

That is pretty common... there are a lot of people that say cracking you knuckles causes this... but I believe it is because the skin at those areas is slightly thicker than other areas on body (because they are at the hinge points of your body....they have to bend and stretch, etc.

You should use a lightening cream. Home remedy: rub a lemon on the troubled areas (of course- this you can do if staying at home.)

Try some more lotion on those areas. It's not abnormal, but I can understand why it would annoy you.
