Mary jane...seriously medicinal marijuana is used to treat migranes. Look it up...but if he is not willing to try that, then he needs prescription medication because over the counter meds are not that good.

Go into a dark room, shut eyes and lay a warm wash cloth over eyes. If it hurts really bad and gets to where he is shaking just a little rush him to the emergency room. Headaches can be painful and can need serious medication.
When it is time that he can take some more medicine Excedrin Headache is wonderful and gets rid of some of the pain. But no medicine can ever get rid of all my pain.
Also, citrus fruits can cause migranes!

Oh man.. i suffered for this for a very long time since 5 grade, it usually happend when i went through a lot of stress or playing under the hot sun for a long time.. I later found that drinking plenty of water helped reduse the amount of migraines i got.. I later found out one of my cousins had the same thing and she bought some pills over seas that someone had recommened.. appereantly no doctor that i have talked to knows about this pills or even know if they are legal.. anyhow right after i took them for about a week my migrains dissapeared completly and so far ive been migraine free for the last ten years.. but I also think it was because i was stressing out so much in school and at work.. Also, to make them less painful once they happen try to go in a dark room and put a cold wet towel on your forhead this will lessen the pain. Good luck man,, i feel your pain it sucks!

I get them myself from time to time. What actually causes the pain from a headache is from the blood vessels dilating not contracting. Cold compresses are good for constricting the vessels and heat can make it worse. Best remedy is a cool dark room and a long nap...only way I can get rid of em.

Make him a hot cup of herbal tea, put a cold washcloth on his forehead and the back of his neck, massaging his feet will definately make him feel relaxed.
There are medications for migraines, although they make you drowsy they do help with the pain. Keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't need to go back to the hospital, there is always the chance of a blood vessel in the brain bursting.

This condition needs to be treated when it is in the quiescent stage. Is normally treated successfully in the chiropractors office during that period.. Not when it has gone acute. The acute stage is a highly inflamatory state. Migraine syndrome is a chronic/acute condition..But there are signs to let you know one is on the way.. Need to take care of it when those signs begin or before they begin... not during the episode.

i would think a warm shower or bath would help open up the blood vessles in the head which are usually the cause of these things. asprin does little for these problems. do you have any bengay in the house or icy hot, have him rub that on his temples and forehead and back of his neck.

The best thing is a dark room. Somewhere which is quiet since he'll be more sensitive to sound.

dark room, no noise, close eyes with a cool wet cloth over them. I feel the pain, I get them too.
