You would need a wireless router that you would connect by ethernet cable to your DLS modem. It broadcasts out a wireless signal. You need a wireless network card in your laptop to receive the signal (if it is new, it probably has one build in. If not purchase one that attachs to the USB port of the laptop).

You can buy a wireless bridge. This is a radio device that replaces the ethernet cable between your router and your PC.

If you already have an ethernet connection at a wall socket or a box near it that you plug your notebook into, then just disconnect the ethernet cable and plug in the bridge.

Your notebook must be wireless enabled - often they have this built in these days, if not you can by a USB adaptor.

You may have to switch a hardware button on your notebook to activate it though - it'll be a little sliding switch on the notebook body if there is one. This protects your notebook from starting the hard disk whilst on the move - if you carry the notebook in sleep mode, with wireless running you could damage your disk if a wireless network you walk through causes the disk to start up.

You will have to configure your wireless connection - this normally requires entering a MAC number or SSID in a wireless network setup program - these numbers can be found on the bridge product label or in the manual somewhere.

Belkin makes a lot of these products.

A router is the best way to to but you DONT need one. You can buy a USB wireless access point creator for $30-60. You just plug that into your computer with the internet access and your laptop will connect through it.

You will need a wireless card built in to your laptop or a PCMCIA wireless adapter.

You'll just need one 3 or 6 foot CAT6 crossover cable, plus a wireless router. I'd go ahead and pay a little more for a MIMO router, but any router that's G-capable will work, as long as your laptop is new. If it isn't a new laptop, you'll also need to buy a PCMCIA wireless networking card, from the same company that makes the wireless router you buy.

Go out and buy a Linksys Wireless Router. Your laptop should support wireless communication, if it doesnt than you need to get a Wireless Card for it.

You would have to buy a wireless router and plug the ethernet plug into it. Your laptop should have a wireless card, and it should connect.
