One way or another she is going to find out that it is ruined... I sa you tell her upfront with an appology and explain that you will pay for it (because you owe it to her to pay for it)... then take her to the mall and buy her a new dress...

... Bad things and accidents happen without us wanting them to. Lies and deception come from the choice to misinform someone... and that is way way worse than an accident....

...What is the worst thing that will happen? she gets mad because the dress is ruined...ok you are going to replace it so no big deal.
...She doesn't let you borrow stuff in the future? So what, maybe you should be borrowing stuff from people...

If you lie then she will feel like you dont think enough of her to tell the truth...

Just be upfront... its always the best way to operate.

The best thing to do is to just tell her the truth because the more you lie the worst it will be. Tell her that you made a huge mistake and ripped it. But you will be more than happy to pay for it. If she is a real friend she will understand and forgive you.

You should tell her, because she is bound to find out if you don't, and that could make the situation even worse. If your Dad is willing to pay for it, ask him if he could just buy her the same one. Or better yet take her shopping for a skirt of the same style and price; your treat! I'm sure that she will understand! Lying isn't the answer.

As long as you are honest and if she is a good friend she will forgive you... I mean it's only a skirt...

Try to look online to see if you can find one like it..

May be you can buy her a card to give to her along with it and tell her how sorry you are. May be include a gift card from Nordstrom for a certain amount that your dad might be able to cover!

As there is a saying in chinese "paper will never be able to cover a fire" Tryo to be tell the truth to your friend. There is no point lying as it will only get worse. You will try to cover one lie with another until the point that you can't lie anymore and she will be pissed that you lied so much. A true friend will understand, and besides, you accidentally ripped it right?

Just tell her the truth. She woldn't be mad at you if she is a true friend of yours. It should be all good if your dad said he had the money to replace it. Anyways it is just a skirt, I doubt it is very centimental to her. I wouldn't usually let anybody borow something of mine that was centimental. Either way it is not a very big deal. Like I said, the truth! And I definently agree with Sunny!

if u 2 r real good friends then u have to tell her the truth and give her the money so she can buy a new one....its always best never to borrow things from a friend.

don't avoid something like that. you'll never fool her by buying another one. If another one is readily available, it may be a good idea to buy it. Otherwise, perhaps a gift card where she shops may be a better gift. But you have to face up and tell her you did it. Because when you lie to people you're really saying "I hold you in such low regard, I think you'll believe anything I tell you" and you wouldn't say that to a true friend.

Let's be for real. It's only a skirt. What can she do but accept your apology and accept the money? If she wanna trip out over a skirt tell her to get over it. It's not gonna kill her.

Buck up...tell the truth and face the music. If you lie, you have to tell another lie to cover the first one, and eventually you forget what the first lie was. Just tell her, offer to pay for it, or sew it yourself. What's she going to do? Take away your birthday? Nah...it's not the end of the world.
