I've been doing some research on my lineage. My father goes by the name of Ishram Shadaj. His parennts are from the state of Tamil. Now, I'm not sure his parents were born there. My dad is American born though.
Now my question is: According to the indan caste, I have not come accross a single community with that name. Could it possibly be another name that's not so obvious to the real surname?

Looking at the name, it sounds like a muslim. I am not too sure if this name belongs to a tamil. It cud be from other parts of India. It cud be from middle-east/persia too. If you know your grand-parents name, it wud be better.

There is nothing called Indian caste. May be you are referring to Hinduism. But one cannot decide anything based on relegion because it is so wide.

All the best for your search.
