well did you talk to the family about your payments before you agreed, i babysit for 4 kids (10yro,8yro, 7yro w/autism, and 2 yro) fulltime, i get paid about 9 bucks an hour, that's the going rate these days, if you really want to get that i'd talk to your employers, but be nice about it. sometimes they start out payingless b/c they want to make sure youare a good quality caregiver, then they will boost the pay after a few times, but then again i've been with this one family for 5 years so i get paid for driving them to summer school, driving them to pick up a new pet, just about everything, they are really good to me. but yeah you got jipped big time!!!, maybe they are in a financial rut right now who knows,

OK $30 may be a little low considering that you worked that many hours in a row. But I think that $1.50-2.00 an hour is fair as long as your not working more than 6 hours a day. I also think it depends on the person who is paying you. I myself am a single mother, my job pays me a little over $10 an hour so if I give my baby sitter $5 an hour for my one son that is half of my wages. I do agree that the price should be determined before hand that way no one feels they are being cheated.

Well i baby sit a 5 and a 9 year old for 7 $ an hour..adn their 13 year old brother is there wit me..but doesnt want to be responsible ( I didnt choose the price..their mom did adn said its the normal play). So you should charge about $8 dollars adn hour...or ten. Hope it all works out!! When I baby sit for about 3 hours I get about 21 dollars. Dont get scammed!

You should be charging at least a dollar per hour for any child over the age of 3, and double for every child under the age of 3. You also shouldn't be watching children for that length of time! If this lady needs care for her kids for that long, she needs to send them to a licensed childcare person or facility. If the kids are at your house and you have to feed them (parents don't provide food) you also need to include the cost of what ever they eat; if you are at their home and you have to feed the kids, you don't charge for food--if it's already there, but I'd add at least $5 for preparation of every meal unless it's already made and ready to serve. If you are at their home and you have to buy/order food--the parents should foot the bill for that upfront!

That sounds fair to me - if you don't agree to a price before you accept the engagement, then you have to take what you are offered by the person employing you.
