Frank Gore - 49ers. A solid, straight ahead runner that averagd 4.8 yards per carry last year part time on a crappy offense that has gotten slightly better and healither.

Cedric Benson - Bears. He is looming behind Thomas Jones and could have his breakout year this year. Similar to gore but bigger.

Sakmon Gado - Packers. He is a smaller runner but can catch the ball and will probably the #1 option by week 5. Many defenses will double Driver, so gado can fly into the flat.

Mewelde Moore - Vikings. The viks picked up G S. Hutchinson from Seattle. Moore was solid last year and the NFC noris is not a great division.

DeAngelo WIlliams - Panthers. He was an excellent back at Memphis, the Panthers are looking for a DeShaun Foster type back, but foster is hurt alot, williams will get his touches and make the most of them.

Julius Jones - Cowboys. It will be 2004 philladelphia all over again. You remember the year that Westbrook had? that will be very similar to jones this year if he can stay healthy.

Lawrence Maroney - Patriots. He is young, fast and strong, and corey dillion is old, slow and not as strong. you see where this is going.

Mike Anderson - Ravens. Lewis might be done, if so look for Anderson to have a solid year behind an improving offense.

Chris Perry - Bengals. Rudi Johnson can get hurt, it happens. Perry is a great receiver out of the backfield and can put up good numbers.

Joseph Addai - Colts. Some say he is a clone of edge, he reminds me more of Chris Brown. If he can stay healthy and play well, he will start by week 4 or 5., on of the most promising rookies.

Cedric Cobbs - Broncos. His name flys under the radar, but he could turn in to the Mike Anderson of a few years ago. Strong runner with a improved passing game and solid line. He could pass Bell and Dayne by week 3 or 4.

None of these guys will be overlooked - there are only so many RB jobs out there - but these are guys that I think will perform higher than their draft position would suggest:

Steven Jackson - STL - I know he's a first rounder - probably will go around #8 to #10 overall. However, he could potentially put up top 4 RB numbers this year. Without that moron Martz airing it out non-stop, I expect Jackson to go for 1500+ and double digit TD.

Warrick Dunn - always under-rated - I never take him, but he does produce and you can get him late in the 3rd round, early 4th.

Reuben Droughns - could possibly be available in the 5th round or later. Definitely worth a pick in this spot, especially if you don't have at least 2 RB already.

I'm not sure about Chester Taylor - I don't think he's slipping under anyone's radar anymore, and could go as high as late 2nd - which is too high in my opinion.

Kevin Jones and Willis Mcgahee - both guys under performed last year; yet both have the starter job. Willis is still worthy of pick #14-18 overall, and Jones could be a steal in round 3.

Rookies Addai, Bush, and White all all worth a shot. Addai has the potential to make the biggest impact this year - even more so than Bush. Don't take them too early - someone always does.

One other rookie to watch for - Deangelo Williams with Carolina - Deshaun Foster has shown he cannot stay healthy for more than about 4 games in a row. Williams could be a steal.

Most of those guys they've listed are 4th round or earlier picks. The potential surprises are Ron Dayne of Denver, LenDale White of Tennessee if he starts, and DeAngelo Williams of Carolina.

If you're looking for a deep sleeper, the Ravens probably have 1. Jamal Lewis and Mike Anderson are 1-2, but they're impressed with Musa Smith. P.J. Daniels is a 3rd down back. Cory Ross is with them as an undrafted free agent and Billick has said he's been impressive. Smith and Ross probably have only a slight chance of getting on the field, but they have a chance. After all, Willie Parker was the 3rd RB on the Steelers this time last year.

You can look at other teams and find backup running backs as well that are buried. You want to get at least 2 surething RBs in your draft, then get somebody with good potential for a backup.

Kevin Jones
Chester Taylor
People always forget about Warrick Dunn
And with all of the Bush hype, you can probably get Deuce McAlister pretty late.

I dont see anyone getting overlooked but you might pick up some injury prone players' backups for trade bait if you have the roster room.
