Many famous comedians such as Chris Rock make fun of white ppl. (aswell as other races including blacks) and this is seen as OK (even I don't mind it), but if a white comedian were to make fun of black people he'd probably be killed

That doesn't sound like equal treatment does it.

Im tired of people talking about the past. Was I that slave driver that beat your great grandparents? no. Im alive in the present. Some black people have to complain that just because Im white im automatically racist. Im not. I just hate black people trying to put me on a guilt trip because my ancestors and their ancestors didn't get along. I don't feel the slightest bit guilty i have to say. It wasn't me that did it. Don't hate me because of the past. And yes, I hear people at school all the time making fun of white people, but if I said one thing about a black person, I would be expelled. Racism either way is not ok. And because the african americans suffered, doesn't justify the derogatory comments about whites. If a race is going to sit in pity, and pity themselves, and not TRY to move forward and be strong, then they will not get nowhere. And they complain that their country hasn't improved at all? They are right, it probably hasn't. Because they are focused on what happened in the past. You have to help yourselves and you will persevere.

Racist Comedians

Well a lot of people confuse racism with other things because they just don't know the basic definition of the word, so to many of them ANYTHING that has to do with race is racist...I've seen people asking if the fact that there have been very few black people seen at republican conventions is racist...of course it's not, it's just the way it is. I'm sure they'd let black people in if they wanted to go, and there probably were some there. If they prevented them from coming, then that would be racist. In the case of the comedians, I think some people, like myself, are offended or at least offput by some black comedians' brand of humor, there are also some white, latino and other comedians I find offensive as well, but I've never seen a truly racist comedian before...ok, maybe Michael Richards, but it wasn't supposed to be part of his act.

Dane Cook makes fun of other races. He's white. Ever seen a Mel Brooks movie?
If your race was brought here, turned into slaves, lynched, burned, beaten, and discriminated against throughout your existence, I think you'd have a different point of view.

Maybe it isn't exactly "equal" treatment...but when has any race ever been equal with white Americans in the United States?

Have you ever watched BET.Its a black tv channel but there about 3 or 4 very funny white comedians that come on the shows and talk about black people as well as there selves. No one gets mad because they are meant to be just harmless jokes.DUH.And for the ppl that think black people get away with anything are just ignarant racist.I'm black and I do not feel like a white, yellow or purple person owes me anything.I make jokes about white ppl, orange ppl, hispanics and myself but no one in my neighborhood gets mad.And do you know why?? Because they're jokes for god's sake.

Who cares? If you don't like it don't watch it.

Although I don't think he really makes fun of white people much- not nearly as much as he makes fun of people's ignorant attitudes towards blacks & whites.

There's a comedian called Bernard Manning in England who used to be quite famous- he used to tell tons of racist jokes. But they were totally unpleasant and hate-filled (and above all not funny). You can get away with almost anything as long as it's funny enough...........

Well, I can name a few white comedians who seemed racists....Rickels, Dennis Miller, Collin Quinn,..they not necessarily talk about black people, but mostly asians, jews, latinos, and middle eastern people....but people don't look at that as racist they just laugh it off...but making a joke about black people seemed taboo....that doesn't sound like equal treatment to me either...

Most comedians who use race in their acts aren't making racist jokes, they are making fun of the stereotypes that some people have about races.

well i'm black and if you haven't listened to some stand up comedy, white comedians make fun of black people too.

The thing about professional comedians is that they don't pick and choose, if they're going to be making fun of people, they make fun of EVERYONE

the only reason you're hearing more of the white jokes is because most of the time they're the funnier ones, thus getting more fame. don't complain, instead take out a notepad and write some funny jokes

Whites making jokes about blacks is like hitting a man when he's down.

If the historically dominant/privileged class (whites) make jokes about the historically minority/oppressed class (blacks) it is perceived as unfairly taking advantage of the privileged position. If blacks make jokes about whites, on the other hand, it's perceived as the underdog taking some well-deserved verbal revenge.

Also, the minority/oppressed class has a huge load of unfair stereotypes to overcome. Whites making jokes about blacks' laziness, sexuality, criminality, what-have-you perpetrates those stereotypes. White people, in their position of relative power, aren't as hurt by stereotyping and jokes.
