Yes i think it was 1994, when we all wondered what "YAHOO" actually means.

There was the rumour that it is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle", but later the founders David Filo and Jerry Yang always told they liked the actual meaning "rude, uncouth, unsophisticated", because such a person would need Yahoo's services.

How true! There we are!

But do you know where GOOGLE comes from?

The Meaning of Google

"Googol" is the mathematical term for a 1 followed by 100 zeros. The term was coined by Milton Sirotta, nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, and was popularized in the book, "Mathematics and the Imagination" by Kasner and James Newman. Google's play on the term reflects the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available on the web.
