Up to 16 years old without a period is normal; anything more than that and you should see your doctor.
Typically the period starts about 2 years after you start developing breasts (if that helps you better estimate when it will start).
Things that can delay menarche include heavy involvement in sports, very low percentage of body fat, and even physical/emotional stress. Some medical problems can too, but as before, we usually don't start looking for those until age 16 unless you're having other symptoms.
By the way, there are some blessings to having your period later:
-The earlier a girl gets her period, the earlier she is likely to have sex (which brings a lot of risks including pregnancy and STDs)
-The later your period, the taller you will grow
-The later your period, the lower your risk of breast cancer
-The later your period, the longer you have to wait to worry about "feminine hygeine" problems, PMS, menstrual cramps, etc.

That is very normal. Girls get their periods anywhere from 9 to 17. I didn't get mine until I was about 14 or 15. Every girl and their body is different, as well as everyone's personalities is different. You will start your period when your body is ready. Try not to worry about it and it will come before you know it. In the meantime, talk with your mom about it, what to expect, etc. Read books about it from the library about it. Always have pads with you when you go out or at school just in case it does start. I had mine start while in the middle of a class once! I was totally unprepared and had to go to the nurses office.

Don't worry-I got mine when I was 14 and I'm the latest bloomer out there. I still don't have boobs and I'm 18! I think a good time to get it is in high school because the later you get it, the less you have to deal with it. I know you said not to say that you'll hate it, but....you will once it isn't so new and exciting. I get migraines and bad cramps with mine-I certainly don't enjoy my periods. But if you will, then good for you. Oh, by the way, all of my friends got it before me, too, so I know how that feels. You'll probably get it soon-don't worry.

It is normal for some women not to get their period until they are 16! So you shouldn't stress. If you feel like something is wrong, ask your mum to take you to the doctor or maybe even talk to the school nurse just to get some reassurance that you are perfect just as you are. Trust me, even though it is a relief to know you are normal by starting your period, it is still no fun once the novelty wears off.

Oh I feel your pain so much. When I got mine I got it two weeks before my 15th birthday. Its completely normal. In fact a woman at my mothers work did get hers until she was 17 and that was with pills, and they made her sick, so she stopped taking them and got it naturally when she was 22. So don't worry. Its perfectly normal. Everybodys body is different. Its alright. And about the feeling of being left out, don't feel like that... be grateful that you don't have it. I know its hard to listen to that... because I couldn't... I felt really bad when my younger friend got it first.. but don't worry.. you will get it eventually... and when you do you'll feel proud... but until then don't worry about it. It'll come.. just patience... patience. Good luck and enjoy it while it lasts.
God bless.

I was 2 months before my 15th birthday before I got mine. It is normal for some girls to not start before now. Things that can affect your period not coming sooner could be decrease in body fat (being very skinny), very active (sports, exercise), and stress can cause it to delay. Doctors don't take concern until you are at least 16. Just enjoy it while you can, and don't worry. Everything will come in due time.

Everyone is different and you can't tell when you are going to get your period. As long as you get your period by the age of 18 you are fine. Happy birthday!

Well every girl is different. You may just be fine and late. But I'd advise you to talk to your mom.
