i have just always wondered what has made ink come out of pens

In most cases, gravity makes the ink come out of pens. You can test this by placing a piece of paper above your head and then writing on it with a ball point.

However, if you spend a bit more money, you can buy an anti-gravity ball point. This type of pen expels ink through the transfer of energy caused by applying pressure.
