Do you mean Self Righteous? I have to hand that prize to both sets of fanatics. Us moderates are the real righteous ones....and I mean that in a totally Fast Times at Ridgemont High sort of way.

Righteousness is a matter of what is in the heart. Is a little old lady conned into giving money to a bogus charity less righteous just because they money she gave went to help theives instead of the poor she intended to help? Of course not!

The myth many liberals try to spread about conservatives (I steer clear of labels like neocon & paleocon) is that they don't care about the poor. The truth is that both the left and the right care about the poor & otherwise disadvantaged but they have very different viewpoints on the best way to care for them.

The liberals seem to have a motto "If something must be done, the government must do it."

The (true) conservatives want a smaller government & want local government & charities to be in charge of helping the poor.

Example: Only 65% of our tax money going into the food stamp program makes it to the people. Yet the WORST food banks across the country still manage to get about 90% of their money going straight to feed the poor. Imagine how many more people the government could help if they improved to the level of the worst food banks! And I imagine the locals are better at weeding out the fakers, too.

Neo-cons are definitely more self-righteous, but hardly ever right about anything. Liberals are probably right at least half of the time.

Republicans are the party of the fiscal conservative (born-again Christian), so for obvious reasons they believe they are the more righteous, however, many Republicans are distancing themselves from George W for this very reason, America was not founded on a theocracy but by people trying to escape theocracies,,,

Liberals. They honestly think they are trying to help people.

Neocons want people to think they care, but the way they go about it makes me think it's an act to stay in power. They say they are religious people, but I can't figure out wher the bible says hatred is okay and that you will go to hell if you aren't Christian (especially since Jesus was Jewish).

Never considered a political party or affiliation a mark of righteousness.

If we buy into stereotypes, it's a matter of terminology.

Liberals claim to be justified. Conservatives claim to be righteous.

Same thing, different label.

I have to vote for conservatives. I am not not on any ego trip, and I am not by brothers keeper. I will help you if you really need it, but don't demand it of me.
