every time I run Ad-Aware it finds virtumonde. I delete it and next time I run ad-aware it reappears. I also use AVG Anti-virus and spybot but they never find it. Only ad-aware. I did find Norton has a removal tool I used it but it seems to come back. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Adaware finds 3 virtumonde files every scan, I delete them, and they are always there again when I scan the next time. I'm also using like 6 other security programs but those always report a clean system. The vundofix didn't help, I tried that several weeks ago and it didn't even find anything on my system! I even went in and tried to manually remove the registry keys and that didn't work either. I switched to Firefox now though and that stops all the popups and redirects and scripts. Drop IE and get Firefox it's much more secure.

I've had it before. Here is how you get rid of it. Make a copy of the instructions before you start. To get the program you need to go to the site listed below. And be sure to read the second post in the thread in case the first thing doesn't work. In my case it did and I have never been bothered by the virus since.

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.

Reformatting works.

Have you tried running Ad-Aware and Spybit in safe mode?

You could try a free online scan at www.ewido.com
