If it is a crt type monitor - big tv-like thing - you can use Windex, because the screen is glass. But if it is an LCD screen, you should not use Windex or any ammonia product as that may turn the covering yellow. Instead, use a Qtip and isoproyl alcohol [not ethanol, read the label!]. And be gentle so as not to damage the underlying components.

There are several ways to remove the pen mark. Try a touch of Ajax or Comet. Wipe lightly then wipe with a damp paper towel. Don't use these on other areas of the monitor or computer.
alcohol also will work.

Its not a big deal. It may actually wipe off with windex and a paper towel... but if not, use 70% ethanol (rubbing alcohol 70%, water 30%).
