The great thing about ideas is that there aren't any new ones. I've read anthologies where a dozen authors were given the same one-line premise for a story and came up with twelve completely different stories. So there's no reason you can't do the same thing! Find a story you like, boil it down to one sentance, and write your own version, using your own characters, settings, and embellishments.

Depending on your age and life's experiences, you should draw on those special events dear to you, whether adverse or positive.

Change the character names and start with short stories. Sometimes a full novel can come from one single event that you experienced. Fortunately, writing fiction based on the writer's experiences is advantageous because you, as a writer, can take an event and go off on any tangent you'd like, such as, what you could or would have done, but didn't.

Your first paragraph must grab the reader instantly, so make it an action scene--blood on the floor, the motorcycle spinning its wheel while laying atop the biker, a killer's thought. It's your world, so create it.

The title doesn't have to come first either. Sometimes a story isn't titled until the very end. Don't start your story with, "I looked out at the moon," or "The incessant buzz of the alarm clock jarred me from the sensual dream--a dream that needs to be explained."

Good luck and don't be afraid of writing a plot and then changing it later on.

I like to look through The Weekly World News and other outrageous tabloids, there are always good story ideas there.

This is a pretty broad question. Is there any particular direction you are going in? In general a lot of women (I think) like reading about relationships or any story that is believable.

That's a tough one! A story has to be part of you. You will know it when it comes to you. I carry a notebook with me and jot down anything that comes my way. Never give up! Find what you like and stick with it! Best of luck to you!
