Wow! What a bunch of uninformed and staunch dicisions coming from those who haven't been following what Jimmy Carter has been doing. Childish?...to try to put an end to conflicts in war torn countries? He's been out of the country and yet it's a dem/repub thing? Come on! He's not trying to do anything more than use his influence to better the world. He has no other motives. Here's a guy who gets on TV and says we need to spread the love around. If we weren't as "self seeking" (his words) we might learn to be happy with less. It's your republican leadership that's telling you what the "issue" should be. So much so that we're all depressed and obese and looking to blame someone for it. They'll tell you it's the democrats. IT ISN'T!

Because he realized, and he has shown, that the Presidency was just a show to distract people from the dark conspiracies that run the real government. He was forced to do some despiccable things while he was in office, too. He has been trying to show people that the real changes in the world are done at the bottom, not through a corrupt power pyramid. We generally feel powerless when we think about the powerful forces running the world, the global warming problems, the oil problems, etc. He tried to change it when he was president, but the 'market' forces took over anyway, and they paid the Iranians to keep hostages in chains, no matter how hard he tried to negotiate their release. (look up "Iran/Contra" or "Arms for Hostages").
He is bitter about what our country has become (burbclaves, megaplexes, antfarms, warmongers, drug companies and oil addicts), I imagine. Can't blame him for that.

He has demonstrated that he is a humanitarian. He helps build houses for the poor and other things. And why should a rich peanut farmer be bitter, Certainly not because he was sabotaged by an earlier Bush.

I think you must be thinking of someone else, Mr. Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, someone that does the work that he is involved in has no time for bitterness.

He is like most Democrats, and cannot get over being beat by a Republican.

Also insulted by the release of the hostages in Iran during Ronald Reagan's swearing in.

I have never heard of such a thing about Carter. However, speaking of a hateful, bitter man.......

its too bad he doesnt focus on building houses or starting businesses to help the poor help themselves. I think he is bitter because he knows his legacy for all of history to come will be as a weak ineefctive president, and he believes he is smarter and more moral than those who came after him

A man who dedicates his life to housing the homeless must obviously be a "hateful bitter man."

Why do Republicans spend so much time criticizing everyone else and so little time dealing with the important issues?
