I am not very political so excuse me if I am wrong. But it is us the people who are ruining the country. Or at least we play a significant part. Cause I don't trust politicians much either. We are systematically trading our freedoms and liberties for security or a sense of it. We do need our country back but in a capitalist government (tell the truth we are). Money will only bring that change. It is what drives the modern politician. Anyway the government will never let us know truth and will bully its opinions and ways on us. ....... .As I remember this country started off as a Republic, remember the pledge of allegiance. But now I hear we are a Democracy..........we really should march on Washington!

Because, "all politics is local."
Everyone hates congress as a whole, but they tend to like "their" congressman and senators because they make a positive difference to the local economy. Who cares if the rest of the country is PO'd that your guy pushed through some $100-million "pork barrel" project, as long as it creates jobs for your local economy. This is especially true of poorer communities that benefit from the tax revenues of the richer parts of America. Never mind that Medicare is going bankrupt and the national debt increases daily.
My solution to the problem is term-limits on legislators, so they can do the right thing instead of being slaves to the need to be reelected (which equates to pork-barrel spending and taking bribe-money from lobbyists). The problem with my idea, of course, is that the only people who can enact term limits are the lawmakers themselves -- Don't hold your breath waiting for those guys to vote themselves out of one of the most lucrative jobs on the planet!

We are not organized, and don't have a lobby. If it gets bad enough someone will rise up and a movement will form. There is a lot of pent up force in the country right now ready to rebell from the current government. I think most everyone is waiting for the elections. What a mess it is! Hopefully our courts will continue to be advocates for our constitution.

As long as there is electricity, heat, water and shelter, it is quite simple to manipulate the masses because you have a state of quiescence. Take away any of these things and you will have a revolution. Civil society is about creature comforts on an individual level. Remove them and discontent is soon to follow. It is easy to ignore you as long as I have mine, is the mantra that has been instilled into modern culture. A common term used is "whistling in the dark". Hard to see the precipice that way, though

It is what elections are for. The country elected the current bozos into office. Hopefully they have learned and will come back to the poles with different choices in the upcoming congressional elections.
