I've been meaning to ask this question for years, always saw it in the hood but I was scared to ask, but now that I'm older, I don't care anymore, I wanna know, is that some prison thing? Seems now I days prisons are what set the trend in todays society? What do you think?

yeah, it's a fad - a stupid one. they got it from LL Cool J when he used to be on 'In The House' and wore all that FuBu. Anyway, my ex-boyfriend used to do that so many years ago and it annoyed the hell out of me. word of advice ...don't adopt that fad.

it used to be that delivery boys rolled up the pant leg on the chain side of their bike so they didn't get the pants caught in the chain, making them fall or late for a delivery. its probably a perversion of that

There is no purpose. Its a street hood type thing. Its suppose to make them cool.

you do it when riding a bike, so pants do not get caught in the chain

I also heard another version about having a prison chain on one leg.

My little brother and his friends wear their pants this way. Apearently it keeps their insanely baggy cuffs from getting caught in their bike chains.
Apearently it looks badass and tough to look like you were just riding a bike.....
