Are there real vampires? answer=NO
The vampire myth originated with the Dracula myth in 15th century Romania or as it was then known Carpathia, Count Vlad Dracul Dracula (first name Vlad second name Dracul third name taken from his father Dracula) of Carpathia was perhaps one of history's most bloodthirsty rulers.
He is and was known as Vlad the impaler, he ruled his land like a tyrant impaling anyone who displayed discontent peasants, emissaries, nobles etc.
A myth tied to historical fact that might have been the true precursor of the Dracula/vampire legend is that when the ottoman turks invaded carpathia Vlad led elements of his army in a night attack on the invaders, the attack failed and he was thought to have died, his wife out of sorrow killed herself and their child, Vlad however was alive and when he returned he denounced god and threw his silver sword into a giant cross in a church which then bled and Vlad supposedly drank from it....
There are many variants and other myths about Vlad Dracul however it is agreed upon that this was start of the vampire legend.
Also Incans thought to have started the myth but evidence shows it was just incan priests performing some blood ritual.

Vampires are very real. Some are blood suckers(lawyers) and there are psychic vampires as well. There are other types. A good book to read is Piercing the Darkness
By Katherine Ramsland.

Vampair? Is that like an au pair for vampires? They don't seem like very good parents, so I'd hope they'd have nannies for their vampire spawn. On Buffy, vampires couldn't have babies, but then on Angel, he had a kid, so I don't know about the situation that the show was actually based on. You might have trouble keeping a nanny under those circumstances.

Not like Dracula or Nosferatu! There are some people who have thin, pale skins and drink blood, but they do not go about biting people's necks. It is easier to go to a butcher and tell him one needs some blood for sausage or pudding. He won't go with you to be certain you don't drink it. There is a name for this condition, but I cannot recall it now. I think some serial killers have eaten victims' flesh and drank their blood. Have you read about Ed Gein, John Wayne Gacy, etc. They were sick puppies.
