The answer is NO - you are not technically gay.
"GAY" is a word that is a social construct. It purports to be a man or woman who engages in sexual activities with another man or woman - of the same sex as themselves.
Some people consider gay and homosexual to be synonyms. Others consider gay to be a matter of self-identification and homosexual to refer to sexual activity or to sexual attraction that is predominantly to members of the same sex. By using these definitions, a person could be gay and not homosexual, or homosexual and not gay.
Since the word is a social construct it is subject to variations of interpretation.
If a person has had same-sex sexual encounters but does not self-identify as gay, terms such as 'closeted', 'on the down low', 'discreet', or 'bi-curious' may be applied. Conversely, a person may identify as gay without engaging in homosexual sex. Possible choices include identifying as gay socially while choosing to be celibate or while anticipating a first homosexual experience. Further, a bisexual person may identify as gay while maintaining a monogamous relationship with a member of the opposite sex. Still others might consider gay and bisexual to be mutually exclusive.
Some same-sex oriented persons prefer 'homosexual' as an identity over 'gay', seeing the former as describing a sexual orientation and the latter as describing a cultural or socio-political group with which they do not identify.
Strictly speaking, if you think some men are sexually attractive but you are not in love with them and do not have a crush on them... you are not gay.
You are only gay if you choose to identify with the status of being "gay".
Alot of men think guys like BRad Pitt and Swarzennegger are very attractive and those men want to be just like those celebreties. There is nothing "Gay" about that.
If you don't want to be gay, than don't label yourself.

Yes, the way I see it, there's a spectrum going from the Hetero-ist of the Hets to the Gay-ist of the Gays. Most of us are in various places along the spectrum. Our place on the spectrum is fluid because even though we are born one way, we may be raised another and not even know of the spectrum. That's my story. I was raised in an environment that didn't acknowledge any kind of non-visual differences. When I grew older and got more information, I found out why I always felt uncomfortable in my own skin.

No I don't think so. I think that that means that you're BI sexual if you think that. Some peeps are in to peeps of the same sex but would prefer to be w/ someone of the opposite gender. I don't think that all gay peeps fall in love w/ peeps of the same gender. I think that it's natural to think that some peeps are better-looking than others. It sounds like the person's bi if they think that other men are "hott" or have a crush on guys. Hope this answered your Q :)

Of course not....why all this fear about being gay! All men find some men attractive at one time or another...no big deal. This is not necessarily a sexual thing...it is a beauty thing. Some men are beautiful...and to not recognize that would be blind. Good luck

If I think about killing someone, am I a murderer? Simply thinking another man is hot does not make you gay unless you act on that thought with a physical action.

You're only gay if you are attracted exclusively to men. If you are attracted to women, you are either straight or bi. If you are turned on by both men and women you're bi. If you are not actually stimulated by men, then you are straight.

depends if you wanna be. I've never known gay people to just be in a state of mind. Only when they've done the dirty deed.

No.
I have a similar situation where because I don't "just tap it" when some girl is throwing herself at me people think I'm gay.

No. I think everyone can appreciate physical beauty in the members of both sexes without being sexually attracted to them.

As a male, you can find that another man is attractive. When you use terms like "hot", you could have concerns.
