What kind of team? Keeper? Or is it a Yahoo public league?
If Yahoo public, go for running backs, maybe even 2 in the first 2 rounds, but keep your eye open for a stud receiver. If it's late in first and Peyton Manning is there, consider him, but keep in mind that a quality QB like Delhomme or Brunell will be available as late as 7th-9th round. Don't waste a middle pick on your back up QB, get him late. If a quality defense like Chicago or Carolina is still available in 6th or 7th round, go for it. The drop down in points is considerable. If not, don't worry til later. Tight ends should be had in the 7th-9th as well, should be a quality one. Kellen Winslow is not on anyone's radar and he should be healthy for the start of the season.

Some people say you have to get your QB RB's and WR's in before you think about the other positions, but there's always some good people left at the end in all 3 positions, so don't be afraid to get the stud TE, or even a kicker like Viniateri if you don't see anyone at the major point-scoring positions that you like.

Don't waste early-round picks on backups. If your starters stay healthy, there's only one week they won't start, so wasting a 5th round pick up a 3rd RB is dumb. (You can't expect teams in the public leagues to do a lot of trading) There will be some decent ones left late, or someone will emerge due to injury to a regular, etc. Also, keep an eye on bye weeks, when drafting your 2nd WR or RB, be sure to draft one that doesn't have the same off week as your first WR or RB.

As some different person referred to it somewhat does count upon how others draft. Heres some issues I do: a million - verify emotion on the DOOR. except you're taking area in in a really loose pleasant league, the purpose is to win. Drafting a participant you want, or it really is on your well known crew is interesting, yet may no longer be the appropriate element to do too early in the draft. 2 - look into the proper 2 hundred gamers on a spread of fantasy web pages. 3 - recognize the different GMs 4 - carry off on drafting protection, and kickers. 5 - be conscious of the bye weeks. you do not choose to lose per week reason you had no individual taking area in. i have been examining some diagnosis on ESPN about the benefits of drafting WR, WR, QB, RB, RB rather of going RB for the first 2 rounds. its an exciting theory that i'd do merely this season. sturdy success, be versatile, yet have objective gamers.

First you look at your league stats to see the most important positions in regards to points. Most people like to pick RB's first because in todays NFL only one of the backs is an exclusive back, where as usually the first 2 recievers on a team do well in stats so there's more of them.

You have to go with the flow. While you draft, pay attention to what's going on. Think of 3-4 players that have caught your eye and when your time comes take the best one. If everyone is taking RB's, make sure you dont' get left behind. Again, it's imperative to see what's up.

If your fairly new to this, dont' get too involved and stick to non-keeper leagues. It won't be as hard.

Remember also this is for fun. I know a ton of people who think they're experts (even some on ESPN, and CBS) that are just computer/stat geeks and haven't a clue as to what's going on. Remember, look at your league first and see where the points are. Good luck!
