Sufi has some great suggestions! However, there is also the phenomena I call The Boss Process. It is something that I have observed with many of my bosses, particularly women and younger people. They often "correct" their staff simply because they think they should have some input. My last boss would correct my grammar when I drafted her letters, even though her grasp of it wasn't all that great as English is her second language. If this might be the case with your boss, try not to take it personally. It really doesn't have anything to do with you. Just follow Sufi's suggestions.... but don't be too surprised if she still has changes. If you're unsure of your skills, get Strunk and White's Elements of Style as a reference, and keep that dictionary handy!

If your boss is a "she", she may never be satified. And you should be able to draft a letter if you are working in that environment. Go to the library and get a book regarding letters. It will give you different examples.

it's pretty tough if she's a person who likes to mark things up and correct errors. just re-do it if she doesn't like the first one. tell her her suggestions were excellent. use correct spelling, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation. understand the purpose and audience of the business letter. use plain language principles and active tense. use short sentences and get right to the point. Include the correct amount of detail for the audience. have other people check it before you give it to the boss

Ask her for her main points.
Work from her draft.
Wallah she cannot find fault with what is based on her work, can she?
