Ovulation usually comes midway in the menstrual cycle. So if you have a 30-35 day cycle, you would ovulate about the 16th or 17th day after your period. This month it would be around August 4, based on your July 20th period. That's about as close as I can come, give or take a day or two. Usually, there are signs when a woman ovulates, such as a slight pain on the side of the ovary that's releasing the egg. It feels sort of like a "stitch" in your side.
Other women use a temperature guide, as the body temp goes up a few degrees at that time. This is also fairly accurate.

I'm sorry if some of the answers you got were misleading. If you're trying to get pregnant, perhaps your doctor can help you verify the exact time you should (or should not, if you don't want to get pregnant) have sexual relations. Good luck.

In regular cycles, ovulation occurs 14 days before your next menses. It is not always correct to count 14 days after your last menses because the duration from your last menses to ovulation is not constant. The constant part is the duration from ovualtion to the next menses (14 days).

The cervix position does not change with the menstrual cycle.

when you are ovulating (fourteen days before the start of your next period) and the days leading up to ovulation, the cervix is high in the vagina almost not reachable by the fingertips, soft (like lips), open and wet. Before and after ovulation is hard (like the tip of the nose), low, closed and dry. Hope this helps

The position of the cervix has didly to do with ovulation. And, if you are keeping that close and eye on it, you have way too much time on your hands.

The next time you see your gynie. Ask him about basal temperatures. Most women who are trying to get pregnant are manic about it. Your temperature will rise from normal when you ovulate. But you have to keep a daily temperature chart to be able to discern it.

Ovualting has nothing to do with your cervix opening up. It only opens when you give birth.
