I have a Toshiba and it works great! I had an HP but it crashed with no hope for recovery.
Check out the sales in the next few weeks since its "Back to School" time.

I myself ordered a macbook for college, seems cool and I read some positive reviews on it - apple is delaying right now though cuz they have a large demand so I can't tell you myself how good it is
