Size and some other details would help, but...
1. MOST of Missouri's turtles are basically brown with yellow bits.
2. The Eastern or Carolinian Box turtle IS NOT found in Missouri, but you DO have both the Ornate Box and the Three-toed Box.
3. The site below shows a photo of the turtles of Missouri. Check it out for additional help.

it's probably not a turtle but a tortoise, did you find it on the land? Does it have a flat shell of a domed shell? It may be an Eastern Box Tortoise or Western Box Tortoise. I would do a google search in images using the word "tortoise"

most likely a box turtle,they have a high pitched shell on thier back,it is usually brow with slight yellow markings.the scales on the legs, neck and tail are also a dark brown with slight yellow markings on the underside of the m or along thier edges.

I don't think turtles have scales, but the slider turtle has yellow streaks on it.
