Personally, I think it's unfair as it only includes albums that reached #1 in the charts. Many albums went platinum that never reached #1 (Bat Out of Hell is an example).

My choice would be 'News of the World' and 'Makin Movies' but neither reached #1 in the charts. There are some great albums that weren't number one. It's about standing the test of time. People have mentioned there is no Pink Floyd, no Beach Boys. There is no Who, there is a lack of foreign albums. I expect it will be a Beatles album too, which is probably fair. I expect that the final list will be skewed towards more recent albums, which is probably not fair. I'm waiting to see it anyway.

I'm not sure exactly which album, but you know it's gonna be Beatles!

I hope Radiohead doesn't win it

Dark Side of the Moon or Blood Sugar Sex Magick or any Led Zeppelin one should

but Radiohead probably will with their bends and computers

I assume there are some that they haven't put in there because they know they're going to be there anyway... right?

A night at the Opera, not there
Dark Side of the Moon, not there
The Wall, not there
Nevermind, not there
Appetite for Destruction, not there

How odd

bat out of hell by meatloaf? its ok, but i know it was very popular when it came out.

what about pet sounds by the beach boys? it marked a turning point for studio production.

i think each decade has an album or two that stand out a mile.

Nirvana- Nevermind. It is one of the rare albums that fans can sit through the entire album without moving and enjoy every song.

The Stooges' "Fun House, Van Halen's debut or the Beasties' "Paul's Boutique" deserve top honours.

Channel 4 did this a while back and it was Radiohead's OK Computer that won it by a landslide.
