Keep dreamin pal that won't happen for probably a couple hundred years, if it even happens at all. Not saying I wouldn't appreciate it or enjoy it but if our economy is good enough to have $50 minimum wage then you know every thing else will be expensive too, like gas might be 15-20 dollars a gallon. I guess I shouldn't be so negative about it.

Like anything else, when the price of labor rises, businesses buy less of it. The role of the minimum wage in raising unemployment is well known and well documented. But even worse, recent research has shown that higher minimum wages reduce teenage education levels and decrease workers’ long-term earnings.

Of course our friend jokes here. Getting rid of the minimum wage entirely is the economically correct thing to do--even as it is politically impossible.
Yet we are in the midst of a revival of the rising minimum wage, as economically illiterate voters support politicians who know the average American does not understand wages, prices, and demand.
What are you gonna do?

I am for the "CEO makes no more than 25 times the wage of his lowest paid worker" minimum wage.
That would either drive up blue collar wages or drive down CEO wages, neither of which would be a bad thing.

Sounds nice doesn't it?
But a $50. minimum wage means...
your McDonald's Hamburger will now cost $27.00,
Gallon of milk $47.50. It's all relevant!
Minimum wage goes up... all princes go up to compensate.

Not me, make it 500 dollars...
It's all just noise. You bump it, prices go up, the other salaries adjust, the fed dumps more paper into the bucket, and we're all back where we started, except our savings have been clobbered and those that loaned money at the beginning of the cycle have worthless notes.

Not me, Can you imagine the price increase for a big mac or a Starbucks coffee if they had to pay their workers that much.

Nobody in their right mind. That would cause a collapse of small business (the largest sector of employment in the US).

I'm for a $100/hr min. wage. No wait, $1000/hr. Wait, no - ONE MILLION DOLLARS AN HOUR - no wait - ONE BILLION an hour! No, that's not it - ONE HUNDRED TRILLION DOLLARS PER HOUR! That's what I'm for.
