In order to prevent unauthorized copying/distributing/pirating of music and Videos they are protected to only allow your to play them. If your system were to crash they you would need to contact Apple for assistance in recovery any lost licenses of those downloaded music and movies.

For two reasons. First, anything downloaded from iTunes has a security code that allows it to work only on your computer. Second, I assume you have some sort of Apple junk and, if so, the videos uses a proprietary codec and won't work on a Windows machine. Do yourself a favor and get rid of your Crap Apple and get a good Windows machine. You won't have these problems. Apples are way, way over-rated and over-priced. Everything is proprietary and nothing decent is available for them. And before you argue about Windows, most of the problems people have with this OS are their own fault. No antivirus, no anti spyware, never update, etc. then they whine and cry because Bill Gates broke their machine.
