I have a tatoo of a skull with wings that I got in my former life as a rock star. Now I'm a daddy and a high school teacher and I wish it were something else (like an Earth, or a yin-yang, or a peace sign). How do I find a great place or artist to fix it? I don't even know what to search for in the phone book or on the internet.

You need to find a local tattoo artist to look at it and see what they can do with it.
Your best bet is to find someone locally who has a nice tatt and ask where they got it-- then go there.
If that isn't an option, look up "tattoo" in the yellow pages.

Go to a tattoo shop, they're in the yellow pages under "tattoos", or you can ask someone with a tattoo if they know a good shop. They will tell you if it can be covered. If it can, depending on how dark it is, will tell you what it can be covered with. There is also the option of tattoo removal, also in the yellow pages. Sorry, wasn't trying to be sarcastic with where to look, just sounded like you didn't know for sure where to start. Before you get anything done ask the tattoo artist to see their photo album, they should have pictures of cover ups they have done, and if not, or if you don't like what they've done, go somewhere else, these places are a dime a dozen in most towns.

don't forget to help your high school students realize that this could happen to them, too. i do guided meditations with young people to help them realize that what tattoo they want will change over time (like having them imagine what tattoo they would have wanted at 5 or 10 or 15 an at 30 or 40 or 50 and the one they want now etc.
i think any tattoo parlor will do it, surely there are specialists that you can find...

Look up tattoo designs or tattoo patterns. Tattoo places also have books or designs in books and usually on their walls. I have 4 tattoos and am getting one covered over since it's not exactly what I wanted. But, anyway... that's how I'd start out. :)

My advice to you is to look in the phonebook for "tattoo" and/or "body art", etc. call every number you can find under those. If that doesnt help, look on the internet, maybe even www.yellowpages.com might help you. I hope this helps. Good luck.

find a tattoo parlor and see what they can do. There are alot of very talented artist out there that can probably do what they call a cover up.
If they cant then they can tell you how to have it lasered (sp?) off.
