So on my local news talk radio a guy was furious ((the host)) that the government in our local home town was requiring kids to bring certain items ((i.e fruit, veggies)) to a school party if they're having cupcakes. It also prohibits bringing of certain foods to school that used to be ok ((i.e peanuts)) He's saying that here within the next 25 years America is going to be another socialist country. A caller 2 mintues later said that his son will have an attack if he is anywhere in the vacinity of peanuts and it should be a law for the sake of other people. The argument was "should we change laws like this because one in every million people are that extremely allergic to peanuts"? Kind of non-important question compared to current events going on, but just curious to what your view is towards socialism...

Well, it's a little silly since there is something that is a potential allergen to many people. What about the ones allergic to fruit? Chocolate? Should we ban pencils and paper in case someone gets stabbed or a paper cut? There has to be a certain amount of personal accountability. A child who is severely allergic to peanuts can be taught to identify them and stay away from them. A child who is not old enough to learn that probably isn't old enough to be at school alone anyway. At some point, the government needs to stop trying to raise people's children and focus on fixing the country.

Socialism is a failed system no matter how you slice it. It will fall apart because it is impossible to tend to the needs of EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL that is out there. If you try to do this, you will doom the very thing that you are trying to preserve.
The laws become so general to cover everyone that they will cover absolutely nothing.
If you or your child cannot eat peanuts or cant have sugar, then dont let them eat them. Make him something special to take in their lunches to eat at the party that they CAN have.
You cant punish the masses because the little inbred rug munchkin cant eat a peanut. I bet you when he gets older he will have to go to the supermarket and buy food for himself and there are a million products out there with peanuts in them. Will he have a personal shopper? I dont think so.
Socialism is here, but not to the extent that it could (and will be). There will be anarchy in the streets and a rebelion that will make WWII look like a picnic and all because of being PC in the US.
By the way, I would like to see the suspension paperwork if little Johnny doesnt bring a carrot to school when they have cupcakes.
I may have to take it to the higher courts and then Johnny and I may not have to work, go to school or do anything PC with all the money.
I havent seen them ban the automobile because my cousin is blind and may get hit by one. They havent banned alcohol because a friend is an alcoholic, so why ban peanuts because of this little idiot.
Tell the kid straight out: Eat a peanut and you will die. Therefore, dont eat peanuts or anything with peanuts in it and you will be fine. Thats what the he** parents are for.

well it's not socialism but in such cases you can make an exception in this case not bringing peanuts for the sake of other kids and the fact that they are not nessisary does not mean America is becomming a socialist country because it takes more than peanuts to do the trick and maybe they made the decission because a number of the kids going to the party are alergic to peanuts but it's not the end of the world!!!
we can still live for 50 minutes without peanuts!!

3% of the population is allergic to peanuts.

I bet the fruits and veggies were a result of our fat kids. Does this have anything to do with becoming a socialistic country? No.

If the talk show host called this "socialism", then I suggest he go to that same school, riding in his appropriate "short-bus". Make sure he's let off right out front. It's easier that way.

I think the "authority rules all" is more like the fachist, Adolph Hitler was trying to achieve. There certainly seem to be some leanings in that direction from out leadership.
